English Riviera Destination Guide 2016 - page 5

There’s one thing we have in abundance
and that’s the Great Outdoors! We are a
UNESCO-recognised Global Geopark; one
of only 7 in the UK, waiting for you to explore.
We have cycling, climbing and kayaking for active
visitors or some simply breathtaking views for
those who just want to sit back and relax.
If you really want to get up close and personal to
our stunning coastline then why not take a boat trip
or one of the great value seasonal ferries that run
between Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
For those that are more adventurous, there’s always
diving, coasteering or even wild swimming! Our local
experts will be more than happy to take you on an
adventure of a lifetime.
Keen fishermen can either spend the day beach fishing or go
on an organised trip to tackle some of the larger catches that
lay just off shore. Be sure to keep an eye out for some playful
dolphins and seals that can often be spotted in our sheltered bay.
Back on land the English Riviera plays host to a dramatic section
of the SouthWest Coast Path. Breathtaking landscapes including
Berry Head Nature Reserve are great spots for seeing wildlife and
for novice walkers and experienced hikers alike.
